Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Lucas Lepri Coming to New York City
The sports legend will teach a seminar at Range BJJ NYC on April 27th.
Nine-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Lucas Lepri is set to come to NYC on April 27th to teach a seminar at Range BJJ NYC.
Lucas Lepri, is one of the most accomplished and decorated jiu jitsu athletes in the world. He is a 9-time black belt World Champion and has won every major jiu jitsu tournament in the world, a feat accomplished by only a handful of athletes in history. In 2014, he won every major tournament he entered, including winning the World title again in what many call the most dominant performance of the 2014 World Championship tournament.
Considered by many the most efficient self-defense martial art, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu originates from the understanding that most physical altercations end up at a close distance and consequently on the floor. Through a series of body positioning, choke holds and locks, the efficacy of Jiu-Jitsu relies on giving the practitioners the ability to defend themselves against physical attacks and subdue their opponent without the need for strikes.
From professional athletes honing their craft to beginners seeking to improve their fitness and self-defense skills, many enthusiasts are drawn to the sport for its benefits. In New York City, Range BJJ NYC, a trusted BJJ academy located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, will be the host for Lucas Lepri’s seminar, and it’s the only BJJ gym in manhattan affiliate with Lucas Lepri Association.
Range BJJ NYC was founded by Prof. Eduardo Capeluto, and established with the belief that personalized attention, methodology, structure, respect, positive vibes, strict training, and top-notch facilities go hand in hand.
A 2-Time New York Open Champion, prof. Capeluto started his BJJ journey in the early 1990s and through the years had the privilege to have learned under the tutelage of Professors Fabio Gurgel, Romero ‘Jacare’ Cavalcanti, Marcelo Garcia, and Lucas Lepri.
In 2010 Eduardo received his Black Belt from Lucas Lepri and Fabio Clemente.
“The Jiu-Jitsu learning journey has no end. New techniques are created, different approaches emerge, and new styles become in evidence, so It is crucial to have the opportunity to gain knowledge of the new and be able to connect the novel concepts with the Jiu Jitsu fundamentals,” said prof. Eduardo.
At the heart of the BJJ Upper East Side training facility is its personalized attention to every student’s specific requirements and strong belief in creating an environment filled with respect and sportsmanship. Furthermore, it focuses on ensuring a safe and hygienic ecosystem for all students to thrive and take their skills to the next level.
