ES Wildlife Photo Tours Announces Fall 2026 Wildlife Photography Tours in the Canadian Rockies and Northern British Columbia

Small-group wildlife photography tours by ES Wildlife Photo Tours offer rare access to remote locations and iconic Canadian wildlife

ES Wildlife Photo Tours announces two fall 2026 wildlife photography tours led by award-winning photographer Eric Seemann. The Canadian Rockies photography tour and Northern British Columbia tour each bring four to six photographers into areas selected by Seemann for peak fall wildlife activity, locations familiar to locals but largely off the radar of conventional tourism.

Both wildlife photography tours follow a six-day, five-night format, traveling by luxury SUV into terrain Seemann has spent years getting to know. Fall departures are timed for peak wildlife activity, with opportunities to photograph grizzly bears, moose, elk, bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and potentially Canadian lynx. Aurora and night sky photography are possible on both routes, weather permitting.

The  Canadian Rockies photography tour offers two departure options: October 2-7 and October 10-15, 2026. The journey begins in Hinton, Alberta, before heading into the mountain wilderness of the Canadian Rockies. Dramatic fall landscapes combined with active wildlife make this wildlife photography tour a strong choice for photographers who want both iconic scenery and the kind of encounters that don't show up on standard itineraries.

The Northern BC photography tour departs September 20-25, 2026, beginning in Smithers, British Columbia. From there, participants travel into northern wilderness areas known primarily to locals, with stays at a remote wilderness lakefront cabin. Starlink internet and a satellite phone are available in camp, and the region's dark skies offer strong conditions for aurora and night photography when weather allows.

"With more people chasing the same images, certain places are feeling the strain," says Seemann. "Keeping locations quiet helps preserve the experience, for wildlife and for photographers." This philosophy defines both tours, where precise shooting locations are shared only with confirmed participants, a deliberate practice that protects sensitive areas and ensures each group experiences them without the pressure of overcrowding.

Both the Canadian Rockies photography tour and the Northern BC wildlife photography tour are designed for photographers of all experience levels and travel in a small group of just four to six guests, allowing for a flexible pace and unhurried time in the field. Each tour includes all in-tour transportation, five nights of accommodation, and three home-cooked meals daily with snacks and hot beverages. Participants make their own way to the designated starting point, Hinton for the Rockies tour and Smithers for the Northern BC tour, after which all logistics are handled by ES Wildlife Photo Tours.

Seemann's work has appeared in BC Outdoors Magazine and has been recognized among Canadian Geographic's Top 100 Wildlife Photos. His practice of returning to the same areas season after season, building real familiarity with animal behavior and seasonal patterns, shapes every wildlife photography tour he leads.
