In fact, only recently, brothers Malakai, Jeurell and Brandon competed in Toa Afi, the fireknife competition in Orlando, with Malakai securing the first-place position and Brandon claiming second place out of 16 contestants.

In 2009 and 2011, the Lavata’i brothers became first-place group champions at the prestigious World Fireknife Championships held at the Polynesian Culture Center in Hawaii.
