In fact, only recently, brothers Malakai, Jeurell and Brandon competed in Toa Afi, the fireknife competition in Orlando, with Malakai securing the first-place position and Brandon claiming second place out of 16 contestants.
In 2009 and 2011, the Lavata’i brothers became first-place group champions at the prestigious World Fireknife Championships held at the Polynesian Culture Center in Hawaii. These champions have now taken their art to the Luau Orlando dinner show presented by Polynesian Fire Productions, capturing the imagination of locals and visitors.
