“With the added truck, we’re able to assign routes to more clearly defined service areas,” Art Nikolin explained. “Instead of running trucks all over the place, we can assign them to certain locations. Travel times decrease. It becomes more efficient.”
In addition to expanding capacity, the company has shifted its equipment strategy toward larger volume pump trucks. Smaller-capacity trucks required more frequent trips to disposal stations, reducing daily service efficiency.
“We changed our strategy,” Art said. “Smaller trucks weren’t paying off. We were losing too much time driving to and from pump stations. Larger volume trucks allow us to complete more work on a single route.”
The new pump truck represents a significant capital investment. Modern septic pumping equipment can range between $200,000 and $400,000 depending on configuration and customization.
“A new septic pump truck is between two to four hundred thousand dollars worth of equipment on the road,” Art noted. “Most people don’t realize what goes into operating at this level.”
