Septic Solutions LLC Secures Municipal Hauling Contract with the City of Arlington
Septic Solutions LLC’s investment in specialized equipment and environmental compliance expands its role in Washington’s wastewater infrastructure.
Septic Solutions LLC, a family-owned septic and wastewater services company, announced that it has secured an official municipal hauling contract with the City of Arlington. The agreement expands the company’s operational scope beyond residential septic services to specialized thick-liquid waste hauling for municipal wastewater treatment operations.
The contract marks a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth and reflects increasing trust in its operational standards, environmental compliance systems, and infrastructure-level capabilities.

“When we first got into the industry, it seemed simple. You just pump septic tanks,” said Art Nikolin, General Manager of Septic Solutions LLC. “But once you commit to it and expand your horizons, you realize there’s so much more involved, especially how this work impacts the environment. This contract represents growth beyond residential work. It’s stepping into a larger responsibility.”
Under the agreement, Septic Solutions LLC will haul dewatered biosolids, a significantly thicker and heavier material than standard residential septage, from the City of Arlington’s wastewater treatment facility to approved agricultural sites. Unlike traditional septic pumping, which involves material that is approximately 3–5% solids, dewatered biosolids contain far less free water and require specialized containment systems, weight-rated equipment, and strict regulatory oversight.

To meet these requirements, Septic Solutions invested in a custom-built, fully contained hauling trailer engineered for transporting thick liquid waste. The equipment is designed to prevent leakage during long-haul transport and to comply with Department of Transportation weight regulations.
“When you’re hauling that kind of weight, you don’t cut corners,” Art said. “We worked with a manufacturer to build a trailer that’s fully contained, so nothing leaks onto the roadway. And we invested in new equipment rather than retrofitting older trailers. When you do the math, buying new avoids the long-term headaches and reliability issues that come with used equipment.”
The new trailer features combination axle configurations to meet legal load requirements and upgraded disc brake systems to enhance stopping power and safety under heavy loads.
Municipal biosolids hauling carries environmental responsibilities beyond those of standard residential pumping. Although dewatered, biosolids can still contain harmful bacteria such as E. coli. Any spill requires immediate response and coordination with environmental authorities.
“If it gets into waterways, you’ve contaminated them with E. coli,” Art explained. “That's an instant response. Instant reporting. You’re dealing with environmental services and regulatory agencies. There’s a high standard when you operate at this level.”
The work also requires coordination with wastewater facility logistics, varying loading procedures, and compliance with environmental documentation protocols. These factors create a significant barrier to entry within the industry.
“There’s a large barrier to entry,” Art noted. “You’re working with reporting requirements, environmental departments, and strict operational standards. Not every contractor is set up to do that.”
After hauling, the bioSolids are transported to approved agricultural sites, where they are stored, spread across farmland, and tilled into the soil under regulated nutrient management programs. This process allows farmers to reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers while maintaining crop productivity.
The Arlington contract aligns with Septic Solutions LLC’s long-term vision of serving as a reliable infrastructure partner throughout Washington.
“Our goal is to be an integral part of the state’s infrastructure,” Art said. “We want to be a pillar the community can rely on, not just for septic systems, but for wastewater systems to function properly and not back up.”
While the contract focuses on municipal operations, company leadership emphasized that residential customers across Island, King, Skagit, and Snohomish Counties also benefit from the investment.
“Diversifying our portfolio makes us more reliable in the long run,” Art added. “If homeowners rely on us for service, they’ll continue to find us. Stronger infrastructure makes for a stronger company.”
Founded in January 2025 and backed by more than eight years of septic industry experience, Septic Solutions LLC continues to expand its capabilities while maintaining full licensing across Island, King, Skagit, and Snohomish Counties. The Arlington municipal contract represents the company’s continued commitment to operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and long-term community support.
